About Us
Mission
To implement Acts of Hope in Kenyan communities through counseling, mentorship, empowerment, and advocacy for women and girls affected by trauma.
Vision
We envision a world where women and girls have been transformed through emotional and mental liberation from the grips of trauma by the power of Jesus Christ.
Founding Story
Our founder lived in India for 3months on a mission assignment, serving girls from the ages of 6-20 years old at an orphanage, which had been survivors of abuse, both sexual and physical. These girls had nothing but “HOPE,” after experiencing some of the most traumatic situations. The most important thing to them was to be educated. However, it was difficult financially for the leaders of the home to make sure every girl was given an equal opportunity to be educated. Heart broken, Yasmeen decided to do something for the girls once she returned home.
Kujenga Tumaini started out as a one-night campaign, entitled “Creating Hope” to raise funds to support the girls in India, so they would have an opportunity to receive quality education. Her vision quickly grew as she prepared for Kenya, to serve at a children’s home. She knew that there was a world full of girls who did not have access to therapeutic resources to help address the challenges they faced in their communities, and homes. After hearing several stories of women and girls who were sexually abused, and had been faced with unimaginable situations of injustice in Kenya, Kujenga Tumaini Project was born.
Kujenga Tumaini believes that women and girls should have access to quality mental health services within their communities.
We provide individual therapy to women and girls in a safe space that’s conducive for Transformation and Healing.
We facilitate transformative healing support groups and workshops for survivors of gender-based violence.
Be Fearless Forever Academy
Kujenga Tumaini believes that girls have a higher success rate when they have a chance to engage in mentor/mentee relationships with qualified mentors and ongoing peer-to-peer support.
Be Fearless Forever focuses on empowering our girls to become the leaders of tomorrow
Equipping and
Training
Kujenga Tumaini believes that educators’ benefit from equipping and training that addresses trauma informed care, behavioral health, and child development. It is important that educators understand what it means to be trauma sensitive and trauma informed while working with vulnerable youth.
Our trainings address parent teacher relationships, teacher and administration relationships with students, and safe learning environments for students.
