Yasmeen Z. Ojwang, MSW
Founder & Executive Director
Yasmeen graduated from Nyack College with her Bachelors of Science in Social Work in May of 2011. She continued her education at Rutgers University Graduate School of Social Work where she earned her Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work, with a concentration in Trauma focused therapy, in May of 2013. Yasmeen has worked at various social service agencies where she has filled a number of roles, such as behavioral assistant, FFT-Therapist, family worker, therapeutic foster care, and intensive case-management.
With over 7 years of experience, Yasmeen has extended her clinical skills to global regions such as India and Kenya where she has been able to practice trauma focused therapy and community work. Yasmeen’s experience has allowed her to travel to these regions and serve in roles that have assisted vulnerable children, adults, and communities who’ve experienced various types of trauma. She has completed number of trainings in her career that helped advance her in crisis-response, crisis management, motivational-interviewing, and cross-cultural interventions. Yasmeen is a therapist and missionary, she is passionate about the work she does and the people she serves. Yasmeen lives in Nairobi, Kenya with her husband.

Reph Ojwang
Director of Business Administration
& Finance
Reph received his degree in International Marketing Management from the Management University of Africa. For the past 8 years he’s been a successful executive marketer leading teams in both marketing and project management. Currently, he’s a leading marketing manger in a well-established logistics firm. He is passionate about God’s work and God’s people.

Nancy Akeyo
Director of Program Operations
Nancy serves as the Director of program Operations for Kujenga Tumaini Kenya. She has worked within and led multidisciplinary and international teams, and worked across multiple sectors, including international and local non-governmental organizations. She has a vast experience in working with adolescent, youths and women in different sectors. She began her career as project officer and evolved into other positions’ that led her to current project manager position and currently is the co-founder and director of program operations. She is passionate about women empowerment in the society.
She is a holder of MBA (Strategic Management) from University of Nairobi, Bachelor of Arts in Project Planning and Management with additional skills in advocacy, behavior change communication and Monitoring and evaluation from AMREF Health Africa. She has a wealthy experience of 10+ years cumulatively record of successful launching, directing and managing of education, Adolescent Sexual reproductive health (ASRH), child protection, health, advocacy, nutrition, economic empowerment, portfolio by management functions such as, proposal and report writing skills, budget design planning, project implementation, organizing, monitoring and evaluation ensuring the feasibility of each project.
Kujenga Tumaini believes that women and girls should have access to quality mental health services within their communities.
We provide individual therapy to women and girls in a safe space that’s conducive for Transformation and Healing.
We facilitate transformative healing support groups and workshops for survivors of gender-based violence.

Kujenga Tumaini believes that girls have a higher success rate when they have a chance to engage in mentor/mentee relationships with qualified mentors and ongoing peer-to-peer support.

Equipping and
Training
Kujenga Tumaini believes that educators’ benefit from equipping and training that addresses trauma informed care, behavioral health, and child development. It is important that educators understand what it means to be trauma sensitive and trauma informed while working with vulnerable youth.
Our trainings address parent teacher relationships, teacher and administration relationships with students, and safe learning environments for students.
